We are located in the Bay of Plenty, a region aptly named by Captain James Cook back in 1769 for its abundance of food supplies and bountiful Maori gardens. Today the region, along with all of New Zealand, is home to a food culture that celebrates freshness and flavour.

Our aim is to introduce you to some of our favourite local food heroes as we visit and sample innovative food from restaurants, markets, specialty food shops and hole in the wall production facilities, many that you would never find on your own. With a minimum of 5 tasting visits - you might experience ice cream for breakfast, Swedish FIKA baking, handmade chocolate, delicious appetisers, local award winning dips, oils & cheese, to name a few.

Our tours are for small groups usually, from 6 to 14 persons, but we can cater for larger groups if needed.

Not to be confused with our Bites of the Bay Food with the added on fish n chip lunch, this is just a classic kiwi day out for a Fish N Chip lunch [including desert] by the sea at the historic Bay of Plenty settlement of Maketu.
Time to take a walk on the beach to work up an appetite and then sit down with friends at the Maketu Beachside Café overlooking the sea with Mount Maunagnui in the distance. We will take a scenic ride home to see some of the sights, past Kiwifruit and Avocado orchards before returning to Tauranga.
